Here it comes again!!

Stores have been playing Christmas music for over a month already. The decorations have been up for ages and merchandise is so blatantly displayed you practically stumble over it.

Is anyone else as fed up with this "In Your Face" marketing of the shopaholic holiday as I am?

I was shocked and disappointed to hear Christmas music long before Thanksgiving this year. You end up burned out on it just about the time you should be enjoying it.

We are just going to start our shopping today and I am feeling pretty festive. We'll see how I feel when we get back!

I haven't been in the stores as much as I used to, so it hasn't gotten to me. My biggest disappointment so far is that the people who sold sugared almonds and pecans at HarMar weren't there last weekend!

Ms. Sparrow, I do Christmas sort of differently than most...as a "process" and with a lot of the European customs...they start early compared to us...and theirs isn't so commercial -- I try to extract the FEELING without buying into (excuse a pun) the commercialism of it all...we don't do presents very much, really...I don't give them on Xmas...just give them during the year and especially the season...like you, I very much dislike the BUY BUY BUY aspect, it is upsetting...

Yes yes I am. I am so sick of "them" starting before Thanksgiving!

I try to tune out all of it before Thanksgiving. I found a radio station that plays an occasional Christmas song, amidst the regular line-up. And, it's a contemporary Christian station. How nice !

How sad though you have to fight to not be commercialized to death !!!!

All the Christmas stuff went up here before halloween and it was really annoying. But now it's starting to get more festive and the kids are starting to get into it and I'm finding myself humming a happy tune. But I avoid the malls at all cost.

I don't like all this commercialization, but also have a quirky appreciation for it...my husband and I have lived in countries that didn't celebrate Christmas and, it's amazing how one longs for what one gets too much of...I think Halloween to New Year's will morph into a national celebatory period...and this isn't all bad...
