Pumpkin Followup

Wow, who knew that pumpkins were such a hot topic! I recently blogged about the shortage of canned pumpkin this year and got the most comments ever. This was due in large part to a plug from the most esteemed Olde Dame Penniwig. She is the Queen of free graphics, bloggie advice and a wonderful friend to her followers.

There are so many fascinating friends to be found by blogging--and who ever has enough friends? There was an interview on the Today Show this morning with Florence Henderson about the number of older folks going online nowadays (that's such a quaint old word). Only about a third of us actually blog, however. That makes us kinda special--techie even.

Anyway, I will be out shopping today in my quest for canned pumpkin. Wish me luck!

Good luck with finding the canned pumpkin, m'dear. The maniacs here have grabbed it all from the shelves already!!! Walmart claims it will get more in.

The pie made from fresh pumpkins I do NOT enjoy...just spoiled I guess...I like that smooth consistency...

I think older folk blogging is fascinating. I think we are often hindered by a fear of being boring or of expressing ourselves, as being quite humble and not putting oneself forward was taught to my generation and the generations before. So blogging has a bit of a psychological hump we have to get over before we can hit our stride.

In the early 80's when I was a farm wife, and canned everything from beef to pumpkin and peaches...I made a pie from fresh pumpkin, and I agree w/Penniwig, the texture was so different that it ruined the pie. Am wondering how Armita's will turn out. Good luck with your pie. Penniwig's recipe sounded delish.

I'm not sure if I'm just a creature of habit or a "purist" but I love the texture of Libby's pumpkin made from the recipe on the can. In fact, I am the designated pumpkin pie maker for our family.
PS: I snagged the last two cans from the shelf at Walmart yesterday. I did my "happy dance" right there in the aisle!
