Ms Sparrow gets grumpy

Every weight loss plan in the country is running ads to entice all of us fatties to get with it and LOSE WEIGHT in the New Year! This is called, "Making hay while the sun shines".

Some of the ads are nonsense but some of them are really annoying. The one that bugs me the most is this one with the sneering Jillian, the "dominatrix" of the TV show, The Biggest Loser. She sells a line of weight loss products and workout DVDs in addition to her role on the TV show where she bullies and snarls at the contestants as they are forced to exercize to the point of exhaustion.

Apparently there must be a large (pardon the pun) market for this hard-hitting/tough-love type of weight management but I find it condescending. She maintains an attitide of smug superiority while she flaunts her abs.

I'm sorry, but it just makes me want to smack her!

I have no use for home owners associations. An old friend of mine, retired, and bought into one of them and was not able to hang clothes out to dry on a clothes line. He ended up selling out an d moving.

If you can get out each day, you could take a handful of seeds out side the compound and drop them off. It might help a hungry bird or two.

I can't stand those mean-spirited ads, either. Since I don't have television I was blissfully unaware of the nasty weightamatrix -- she looks rather strangely masculine to me, by the way -- but I am SO very tired of both the WHITE TEETH and the LOSE WEIGHT ads...

Smack her once for me, Ms. Sparrow...

She should be named Helga, and wear black leather, with nazi type boots, and speak with a german accent!
Ugh!
I, too, am so sick and tired of these folks with lightbright white teeth that positively glow in the dark...and, these ads.
We should all eat moderately, move and stretch each day, say our prayers, and be thankful for what and who we have!
Life isn't complicated, we just make it so, don't we?
Sigh...I am going to TRY to lose 10% of myself this year. My goal for laughs, is like, 80 lbs...but for right now, I'll begin with 10% and be thrilled!
The pantry, refrig and freezer were all purged yesterday, and the food given to a needy friend who was thrilled to get it all, calories be damned! Today, I restocked with veggies, and low fat everything. Sigh...not sure where this will lead. Moving, is my problem being so dang arthritic. But...I'll shake my booty at home to music for ten minutes daily, and call it a day. No witchy Helga's/Jill's for me!

I don't watch a lot of TV but I will admit I have watched the Biggest Loser a few times. I'm not sure if that type of yelling works for people, but I don't think it would work for me. I'll just keep working out to my calm quiet and peaceful DVDs and do just fine. No one yells at me at all.

I try to turn a blind eye to those type of commercials and I change the channel when Jillian is on-- She's just too over the top for me. She may work miracles on her tv show but I'm not buying a dvd of hers that will never give me the kind of results she boasts about.

I watched that program a few times, then moved on. I'm just not a fan of bullying. And that's what this program is all about. And I don't like others deciding how I should look. Good health means eating sensibly, not starving, not over-eating, more moderation and common sense than commercial gimmicks. And, tsk, tsk, Ms Sparrow, you're not a 'fattie', you're a very nice person who's trying to lose a few pounds.

Hello there, fellow Minnesotan! I like your blog. I'm working on a few extra pounds. Seems everyone I know is... and I agree with Kittie, no bullying allowed!
