Half a hug is better than none

I haven't expired from mercury poisoning as my last post might suggest. It's my right shoulder that has given out. After years and years of carrying heavy shoulder purses and book bags, not to mention kids and groceries, doing laundry and ironing, etc. it now hurts like heck. The orthopedist says it's an impingement.
The first line of treatment is Tylenol and ice bags to reduce inflammation. I'm trying that now but if it doesn't help, the next step is to get a cortisone injection in my shoulder. Since I've had a spinal epidural for my sciatica and also an injection in my hip for bursitis in the last six months, I really don't want any more steroids for a while.

I'm giving my poor shoulder a rest and that is so very hard to do!

That's worth a whine. Hope it gets better as soon as possible.

Snuffy looks to be a bonny cat. That about CFL lamps is quite scary . Didn't realise how dangerous they could be
Hope your shoulder is better soon. I can commiserate as I'm having back problems at the moment !

I hate aches and pains. And, I too carry the heavy purse ( that has everything but the kitchen sink type). I have the added bonus of working in the health care field, so lifting bodies is always a possibility. What we do for money !!!!

Try to rest the shoulder. I know it's hard. You don't want to add the problem of tearing those inflamed tissues and then having rotator cuff problems on top of it all.

Well, Tylenol of any kind doesn't work on me for the same kind of sprains and injuries. I use up to 800 mg of Motrin by prescription for my back when I can't stand it anymore. And, for everything else, I use 250 mg of over the counter Motrin. My wife swears on Tylenol Extra strength and it never works but she keeps on taking it. The few times I got her to take Motrin, it works but she thinks it was a combination of her drug and mine. LOL

Hope the pain is relieved very soon! I had a shoulder issue about a year ago. It got to the point where I couldn't move it and had numbness in my arm. I even thought I could be having a heart attack and was checked out thoroughly. Thankfully, my heart was fine and I had a very sharp cardiologist who asked if I slept on my stomach. He told me to stop and sleep on my back as much as possible and my shoulder is 90% cured. Pretty amazing, but all true. It took about six months to get real relief, but no more numbness and good movement.

Try a chiropractor maybe. The ice is good. They can do wonderful things with stuff like that...especially if something is pinching a nerve.

I feel your pain. Lately I have been having all kinds of aches and pains. Hope the ice works. I usually do ice and heat ...rotating!!

Thanks for all the advice, folks.
The Tylenol doesn't seem to do much for the pain but it makes me sleepy so I relax and that helps. Motrin has never worked well for me
and neither does prescription muscle relaxer. I'm just babying my gimpy shoulder and hoping it recovers soon. This is really cramping my style!
