Quotes from A Robert Brault Reader

The Hope In A Two-Party System...

"The hope in a two-party system is that the party of 2 + 2 = 3 and the party of 2 + 2 = 5 can carve out a compromise."

First Rule of Political Debate:  "If there's no proof, deny it.  And if proof turns up, deny you denied it."

Heard in a Washington DC confessional:  "Bless me Father,  for sins have been committed."

And one of my favorites:

"Today I bent the truth to be kind, and I have no regret, for I am far surer of what is kind than I am of what is true."

One of my favorite sayings is "When in doubt, be kind... and all other times, be kind."

Particularly like the last one. It's harder to do wrong when we are being kind.

Great post, Ms. Sparrow. One of my favourite saying is: "It is better to be silent and thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." LOL! I am so happy to see a post from you! :)

I like the last quote also. Something to strive for in an effort to remove myself from the tempation to gossip.

Kindness goes a long way, having been the brunt of one too many unkindnesses over the last several months I can say that unkindnesses smart far too long and there isn't enough kindness in the world to make up for all the unkindness.

I've always told my kids "if in doubt ... don't" Somehow I don't think they listened. Maa

Your post reminds me of another quote, "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away". It's the many little moments that are important !! Great post....

That last one will now be one of my favorites, too.

Much truth there but I can't help myself from being an optimist. That why I'm going with the group that adds up to five...:)

Quite thought provoking! I wonder what is it in some people that yearns for chaos. My mother always told me it takes less muscles to smile than it does to frown...therefore, less wrinkles in the long run:-D
