Really outrageous recipe

October 8th was Fluffernutter Day. It is a New England sandwich that combines creamy peanut butter and marshmallow fluff on white bread. I have never eaten one but since I don't like that all-American kid's favorite peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich, I'm not really tempted.

The Parade Magazine article gave the following recipe for a "gourmet" Fluffernutter sandwich.

On sliced brioche, challah or white bread, layer peanut butter, marshmallow fluff and thin banana slices. Close the sandwich and dust with white flour. Soak in 2 beaten eggs and coat with 1/2 cup panko. Then fry in vegetable oil until both sides are golden brown. Sprinkle salt on top and eat.

Although this sandwich would be way over the top, I must admit I'm a big fan of the ingredients. I have a toasted English muffin with peanut butter every day with my oatmeal for breakfast. I love peanut butter in all kinds of foods.

What's your favorite breakfast?

My favorite breakfast is steel-cut oatmeal with yogurt, brown sugar, almonds, and blueberries. Favorite naughty breakfast: a banana and a Reese's peanut butter bar. :-)

I like a good breakfast, too, but that doesn't pop my toaster. Marshmallow will always be a non starter, and peanut butter is for breakfast. Bringing me back to a slice of good bread.

Woops--peanut butter is for LUNcH.

THAT is way too rich for me. Makes me queazy just to think about it. Similar thing: Smores. UGH.
Breakfast for me: I went from European buttered rolls and jam to old fashioned oatmeal porridge with raisins and peanut butter and just love it. Definitely no peanut butter for lunch.

This looks really good, Ms. Sparrow. I am trying to figure out how to 'follow' blogs, not sure yet. :) As well, how did you get the list of blogs you follow, once you followed them, onto your blog? Aren't newbies hilarious? LOL!

Arg! Definitely not my thing! My breakfast is Kelloggs Bran Flakes (HAS to be Kelloggs!) with a handful of raisins ... covered with Silk (soy milk). For some reason I really don't care for anything sweet.... and I have to be careful of salt (high BP) so I give my taste buds a boost with hot chiles, garlic and stuff like that.... no... not breakfast fare.

My husband simply loves peanut butter (and marmite) - I run a mile at the horrible smell!

I'm strictly an oatmeal and tea gal when it comes to breakfast. But what a wonderful tempting recipe when the grandchildren come...that is, without the frying part.

I love peanut butter. Tasted fluffernutter once... and that was enough. ! I can't believe it has its own day.

Hi Ms. Sparrow, thank you so much for your help on responding to my question. Thanks to your kind help I now have the widget on my page. I had put widgets on before but I couldn't figure out how to do this one. I am now a loyal follower. :)

Peanut butter on hot toast. Splendid. Not sure about the "Mad Dog Foam" you show here though. I'll stick to just the PB on T, thanks!

that sounds like too much!

When I lived in Malawi, the American volunteers were amazed that as a Brit, I enjoyed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. (Even better though is peanut butter with honey, and perhaps a bit of banana too!)

Oatmeal with walnuts and almond milk.

My favorite breakfast -- calories aside -- is either pancakes or waffles and a side of sausage. Realistically it's cereal or yogurt. I'm a fluffernutter fan, though I haven't had one in decades.

Right now my favorite is ricotta pancakes and, of course, black tea and vanilla almond milk.
