A multitasker's work is never done

I'm having one of those days where no matter what I am doing, I feel that I should be doing something else. As I read through all the new blog postings, I keep having impulses to jump up and go do other things.

And then, I suddenly realized it's because I had a dream last night that I was back at my old job at the insurance company and I had a big backlog of old files to work on. This is the result of the many years I spent in the job I left six years ago. While having a job with a lot of variety can keep things interesting, the constant lurching from one thing to another can do damage to your brain!

I should go now!

I get scattered like that too. I've found that if I put it on a task list on iCal, I can let go of it.

Oh, I hate those "old job" dreams. Haven't had one for a couple of months. Hope you don't have one for a good long time.

And I'm wondering if you really did "go now" when you said you should go now or if malingered. Nothing wrong with malingering some times!

Hey, I had a back-on-the-job dream a couple of nights ago. I woke up a bit stressed, but I was so happy to realize it wasn't real!

Sometimes I wish I did have the urge to go and do some work instead of sitting at the computer. My house would be a lot neater! But blogging is fun, and we've both earned the right to have a little fun!

Repeat ten times slowly: "I'm retired, it's my life now."

I hope you and your day have settled down and are now relaxing peacefully and harmoniously!

Linda, I get gag emails about senior moments. Maybe they aren't so funny anymore?

Mitch, I actually drove over to the grocery store to get peanut butter (I simply can't start the day without peanut butter on my toast) and then on to Curves to work out.

Blissed, One of the benefits of not sitting too long is that it keeps me from getting stiff and sore.

Joanne, I keep trying to tell myself that. Sadly, I have this long list of things I want to get done rattling around in my head. I can't get myself to start but the imperative to do them never leaves!

Elaine, Thank you, I did lie down for a nap after lunch because I woke up too early--maybe from that nasty dream!

I can't wait until I can have dreams about the "old job." It's the dreams about my present job that wake me up.

First time I ever heard that multi tasking can do damage to your brain, good one. Those poodles on the right are almost too perfectly groomed. Ha.

Sympathize! I had a weird dream last week that messed up my sleep and that creeped into my groggy day.

Interesting how dreams can affect us! I thankfully rarely have work related dreams

Mmmmm. Maybe my never having many dreams isn't all bad. When I think about my old job, I usually wide awake and relieved to be retired. :)
