Relief at last

Last evening, the temperature during the 6:00 news was still at 100 degrees. Thankfully, during the night a weather front moved into the area and pushed out the 8-day heatwave like a freight train. Of course, that produced a thunderstorm with lots of noise and lightning but a wonderful, soaking rain.

This morning when I went out onto the patio with the cats, the temperature was a lovely 70 degrees. The brown grass had miraculously greened up, the sky had lost its heavy haze and was washed a bright blue and the air was crisp and clean. Ahhhh!

I am so happy to hear this. I have felt extreme humid temperatures here in Montreal and know it is very difficult and dangerous. I am very glad to know that you are safe and that you have some relief.

It rained today!!!
We do not have a humidex reading for the next three days.
The cats have much preferred today's weather.

Seventy degrees! Just the thought sounds good. We're not close, but I'm hopeful we'll be doing better next week.

The atmosphere (during and) after a good thunderstorm is magical - the air seems to be as clean and fresh as I'd imagine it to have been pre-industry (ignoring volcano and dinosaur belches of course)!

I'm a fussy wee beastie and built for a narrow range - anything over 65F and a spot of weak sun sees me immediately crawling under a rock for shelter.

Glad you're more comfortable!

It would make a lovely back yard, though, wouldn't it? We, also, got that rain further to the north of you. It was so nice.

Life is good.

That goodness you got some relief...I understand temps over 100. It zaps all your energy to do any outside chores.
