Small dogs have big attitudes

From my favorite cartoonist Van Amerongen's "Ballard Street".

They certainly do. I remember having to look after a six-inch tall terrier with a bow in its hair for a day once. At the time I drove an estate car ("station wagon"?) with a flimsy cover over the luggage area. The little dog yapped, yelped, leapt around the car like a lunatic - and eventually bounced onto the luggage cover...

The cover gave way, the dog disappeared and it then spent two hours reappearing as the bouncing nose because it couldn't get back over the rear seat (and I wasn't about to help it). Yelp - bounce - nose appears - yelp - bounce - nose appears - yelp ...

Could have done with an electric limousine-partition! I had to admire it - it didn't slow down or let up for the whole day (more energy than I had).

Owl: My mom always had those yappy, high-energy little dogs. I could never understand the attraction. I like big huggable dogs that don't give you a nervous breakdown.
