Who ever heard of a 200-lb sparrow?

Because of my shoulder impingement, my orthopedist has me going to physical therapy twice a week. When the PT gal took me into the big room where all the equipment is, I found it had an entire floor to ceiling mirrored wall. I was shocked and disgusted at what I looked like! I badly need to lose weight and Curves hasn't helped at all.

I have a terrible problem with my appetite after supper. I spend the entire evening prowling around in hunter mode..."Now, what can I eat?"  It's downright obsessive--if I watch a TV show, I keep mulling over what I'm going to eat during the next commercial break.

I decided that maybe it would help to eliminate carbohydrates from supper since they seem to trigger the eating binges. So last night, I only had a piece of salmon for supper (the No-Name brand marinated frozen portions). It tasted great and I didn't get hungry all evening! I had a bowl of cereal before bed but that was it--no ice cream, no popcorn or munchies, no crackers and cheese, nothing!

I think I might be onto something. I know this smacks of the Dr Atkins diet but I'm only doing this in the evening. I will eat my carbs during the day because I love carbs a lot.

My goal for now is to get the numbers on the scale under 200. Sometimes I wonder if the scale even goes under 200 as it has bounced around between 200 and 210 for years.

You can be sure that if this works for me, I'll be letting you know in the big red letters!

All I have to say is, like mother like daughter !!

I have found that those Special K protein drinks work at curbing the hunger pains when I'm at work.

Good for you for finding something that works for YOU. Everything doesn't work or "fit" everyone else's life style. The key is baby steps and just do your best.

I use to eat in the evening...always. Ice cream, cereal, cookies...now we eat dinner at 6:30 and I really don't get that hungry before bed. If I do....I just go to bed.

Drink lots of water...some people say that helps.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Good for you! I think if that approach works, then Curves will help more than before, and you'll feel much better. Keep us posted!

Isn't it strange how we all have a wake up call?
I find that a smoothie, made with 1/2 c. frozen blueberries, a peeled orange, 1/2 banana, a dash of oj, 1/2 c. of vanilla soymilk, opt., a couple of frozen strawberries is very filling in the evening...but, those are carbs.
Also, when the corgis and I watch DWTS on Mon/Tues evenings, we have a smart pop, single serve popcorn bag. it's yummy, and helps too...served with a large glass of water.
If I EVER get under 200 again....you'll hear the hallaleuja
chorus singing!
Good luck dear Ms. Sparrow. You're worth it! You're on the right track now sista!

I think you were eating a lot at night because you were still HUNGRY. Because carbs do NOT help hunger!!! PROTEIN and FAT help hunger. Nothing else will do. I think you are onto something with your protein-heavy dinners.

I totally sympathize, Ms Sparrow. I LOVE carbs. Fresh bread is a definite weakness. Oh, yummmm! So, I have to watch it because carbs turn into instant sugar that quickly burns off, causing pangs of hunger for more, more, more. I'm slimming offf a few pounds now and, like you, having great results because I'm focusing more on proteins. We gals have gotta do what we've gotta do! Good luck!

Thanks for your support and advice everybody! So far, my evening meals have been a small steak, pork roast and boiled eggs. It seems to be working!
