I was thinking that it's a shame I only get around to patronizing the local museums when someone else wants to go. The Twin Cities have an amazing number of good museums, but I haven't even been in some of them.
The strange thing is that when I travel, I always go to the museums in the places I visit. It's like the frosting on the cake.
The Minneapolis Institute of Art will be hosting a showing of Treasures from the Louvre. I hope somebody will want me to go with them.

I love your city, haven't been there since I was 21. Recently saw Garrison Keillor though in Chapel Hill NC, as my mother's day present!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about only going to museums when visitors arrive. I highly recommend the Museum of Russian Art - nice size (smallish but not too small) and some really great paintings.

I guess it is just hard to get out and go to local museums. We have three tiny "museums" -- they don't really deserve that fine moniker -- and I do kind of forget about them...
